NFL PartnershipsThe prevalence of obesity among children age six to 11 has more than doubled in the past 20 years, with more than one third of children and adolescents considered overweight or obese in 2008. This, coupled with the fact that students consume more than 50 percent of their daily calories in school, makes in-school wellness programs crucial for healthy children. Since 2004, the Southeast Dairy Association and National Football League (NFL) have partnered to combat this trend and encourage America's youth to be physically active and adopt healthy eating habits. The Southeast Dairy Association is partnering with the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans to make wellness part of the game plan.
