Morgan County Schools Celebrate World School Milk Day

Morgan County, Ala.—On September 30 the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association (SUDIA) will team with Morgan County schools to celebrate the ninth annual World School Milk Day (WSMD).

WSMD, celebrated by more than 40 countries, provides schools with an opportunity to recognize local dairy farmers while educating children about the importance of dairy foods.

To celebrate this global event, Morgan County schools will hand out stickers and pencils to students who drink milk at lunch. At Cotaco Intermediate School, students will also have the opportunity to take milk mustache photos during their lunch periods.

ADA of Alabama Board Member, Mickey Childers, will participate in Cotaco’s WSMD celebration by speaking to students about the importance of dairy foods and the dairy industry.

“Participation in WSMD provides schools with a great opportunity to engage children and teach them about the importance of drinking milk for strong bones and teeth,” said Childers.

To show appreciation to Southeast dairy farmers, SUDIA staff is working with top dairy producing counties in each state throughout the SUDIA region. This effort will honor local dairy farm families and the nutritious dairy foods they produce.
