Tylertown Primary School Celebrates World School Milk Day

Walthall county, Miss.—On September 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association (SUDIA) will team with Tylertown Primary School to celebrate the ninth annual World School Milk Day (WSMD).

WSMD, celebrated by more than 40 countries, provides schools with an opportunity to recognize local dairy farmers while educating children about the importance of dairy foods.

To celebrate this global event, local dairy farmer and ADA of Mississippi Board Member, Larry Martin, will visit TPS to talk to students about dairy foods and the dairy industry. Martin will also bring a cow to TPS for the children to meet. To further celebrate WSMD, Martin will hand out stickers to milk drinkers during lunch.

“Participation in WSMD provides schools with a great opportunity to engage children and teach them about the importance of drinking milk for strong bones and teeth,” said Martin.

To show appreciation to Southeast dairy farmers, SUDIA staff is working with top dairy producing counties in each state throughout the SUDIA region. This effort will honor local dairy farm families and the nutritious dairy foods they produce.
