Lincoln County Middle School Celebrates World School Milk Day
Lincoln County, Ky.—On September 30 the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association (SUDIA) will team with Lloyd McGuffey Sixth Grade Center (LMSGC) to celebrate the ninth annual World School Milk Day (WSMD).
WSMD, celebrated by more than 40 countries, provides schools with an opportunity to recognize local dairy farmers while educating children about the value of dairy foods.
To celebrate this global event, LMSGC invited a local dairy farmer to speak to students about the importance of drinking milk. Students who drink milk with their lunch and recycle their plastic milk bottles will receive a Fuel-up pedometer.
“Participation in WSMD provides schools with a great opportunity to engage students and teach them about the importance of drinking milk for stronger bones and healthier bodies,” said Kathy Belcher, SUDIA’s school program director.
To show appreciation to Southeast dairy farmers, SUDIA staff is working with top dairy producing counties in each state throughout the SUDIA region. This effort will honor local dairy farm families and the nutritious dairy foods they produce.
