Glade Hill Elementary Celebrates World School Milk Day
Franklin County, Va.—On September 30 the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association (SUDIA) will team with Glade Hill Elementary to celebrate the ninth annual World School Milk Day (WSMD).
WSMD, celebrated by more than 40 countries, provides schools with an opportunity to recognize local dairy farmers while educating children about the importance of dairy foods.
To celebrate this global event, Glade Hill will provide pencils and stickers to students who drink milk with their lunch. Milk drinkers will also receive a chance to win one of 12 Fuel-Up with Milk T-shirts. Local dairy farmer, Jennifer Cook, will attend to answer students’ questions about dairy and will award T-shirts to raffle winners.
“Participation in WSMD provides schools with a great opportunity to engage children and teach them about the importance of drinking milk for strong bones and teeth,” said Cook.
To show appreciation to Southeast dairy farmers, SUDIA staff is working with top dairy producing counties in each state throughout the SUDIA region. This effort will honor local dairy farm families and the nutritious dairy foods they produce.
