Sylvan Elementary celebrates World School Milk Day
Snow Camp, N.C.—On September 30 the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association (SUDIA) will team with Sylvan Elementary to celebrate the ninth annual World School Milk Day (WSMD).
WSMD, celebrated by more than 40 countries, provides schools with an opportunity to recognize local dairy farmers while educating children about the importance of dairy foods.
To celebrate this global event, Sylvan students will watch an educational DVD, “Milk on the Mooove” during their lunch periods. Students who choose to drink milk with their lunches will also receive stickers and pencils from MooElla, provided by Maola.
Local dairy farmer Clifford Loflin will attend all lunch periods to answer students’ questions about dairy foods and the dairy industry.
“Participation in WSMD provides schools with a great opportunity to engage children and teach them about the importance of drinking milk for strong bones and teeth,” said Loflin.
To show appreciation to Southeast dairy farmers, SUDIA staff is working with top dairy producing counties in each state throughout the SUDIA region. This effort will honor local dairy farm families and the nutritious dairy foods they produce.
