Greeneville City, Tenn.—On September 30 local dairy farmer Betty Love will team with Greeneville City Elementary schools to celebrate the ninth annual World School Milk Day (WSMD).

WSMD, celebrated by more than 40 countries, provides schools with an opportunity to recognize local dairy farmers while educating children about the importance of dairy foods.

To celebrate this global event, Tusculum View Elementary (TVE) will hand out stickers and pencils to students who drink milk at lunch. All milk drinkers will also receive a chance to win one of 12 Fuel-Up with Milk T-shirts.

Love will visit all Greeneville City Elementary schools to talk to students about the importance of dairy foods.

“Participation in WSMD provides schools with a great opportunity to engage students and teach them about the importance of drinking milk for strong bones and teeth,” said Love.

To show appreciation to Southeast dairy farmers, SUDIA staff is working with top dairy producing counties in each state throughout the SUDIA region. This effort will honor local dairy farm families and the nutritious dairy foods they produce.
