Junior Broadcaster Finalists to Face Off
WHAT:
Ten Junior Broadcaster contest finalists will face off at the Bank of America Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 5 for a chance to become an announcer at the Dec. 6 Carolina Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers match-up.
This year marks the sixth annual Junior Broadcaster contest, which gives young Panthers fans the chance to become a sports broadcaster for a day. The randomly selected finalists – who entered the contest through Harris Teeter’s Web site or by registering at various events throughout the Charlotte area – will read a play-by-play script in front of a panel of judges, including Mick Mixon, radio voice of the Panthers and Jim Szoke, Panthers color commentator. The contestants also will be treated to a day of fun at the stadium, where they will get a behind-the-scenes tour and a gift bag including game tickets, signed Panthers memorabilia and more.
The contest winner will receive four lower level tickets to the Dec. 6 game, on-field passes and a Panther Prize Pack, as well as accommodations and dinner for four in downtown Charlotte. He or she also will record a special game day message that will be played on the Panthervision screen.
The Junior Broadcaster contest is a partnership initiative between the Southeast Dairy Association, Carolina Panthers and Harris Teeter in support of Fuel Up to Play 60, a national program launched in October 2009 by the National Football League (NFL) and National Dairy Council to combat childhood obesity. The program combines the excitement of the NFL with challenges, prizes and rewards that inspire kids to get active, eat right and make real changes in their schools and their lives. Fuel Up to Play 60 will reach 36 million youth in 60,000 elementary, middle and high schools during the 2009/2010 school year.
