  • At any one time, a cow's udder can hold 25 to 50 pounds of milk.
  • A cow produces, on average, 100 glasses of milk a day - more than 2,000 gallons of milk per year.
  • More than 21 pounds of milk are needed to make one pound of butter, 16 pounds of milk are needed to make one half gallon of ice cream, and 10 pounds of milk are needed to make one pound of cheese.
  • An average cow weighs 1,500 pounds - about the size of ten grown men.
  • Holsteins are the most common breed of dairy cow in the Southeast.
