Marietta School Wins County-Wide Milk Sales Contest
WHAT: The Southeast Dairy Association and Atlanta Falcons have teamed up for the Cobb County Milk Sales Contest to combat childhood obesity and provide education on the importance of three daily servings of dairy as part of a healthy diet. McCleskey Middle School increased its milk sales 7.4 percent from August-December 2009 – more than any of the other 10 participating schools in the county. The school will be rewarded with a pep rally with Atlanta Falcons linebacker Curtis Lofton, mascot Freddie Falcon and Falcons cheerleaders on Monday, March 15.
The Milk Sales Contest supports Fuel Up to Play 60, a national partnership between the National Football League (NFL), National Dairy Council and USDA to combat childhood obesity. The program combines the excitement of the NFL with challenges, prizes and rewards that inspire kids to get active, eat right and make real changes in their schools and their lives. Fuel Up to Play 60 will reach 36 million youth nationwide in 60,000 elementary, middle and high schools during the 2009/2010 school year.
